WHOLE WORLD DECEIVED!

WHOLE WORLD DECEIVED

Since the beginnig of time the world has been deceived.  We are no exception when it comes to the trap of deception.

Websters Dictionary:

deceive |diˈsēv|

verb [ trans. ]

to cause (someone) to BELIEVE something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage : I didn't intend to deceive people into thinking it was French champagne.

• to give a mistaken impression : the area may seem to offer nothing of interest, but don't be deceived | [ intrans. ] everything about this was intended to deceive.

• ( deceive oneself) fail to admit to oneself that something is true : enabling the rulers to deceive themselves about the nature of their own rule.

31 times the word deceived appears in the bible

Genesis 3:12-13

12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”

13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”

The woman said, “The serpent DECEIVED me, and I ate.

Eve was led to believe something by the “ENEMY” that was not TRUE

QUESTION:  Who is this enemy and what causes us to be deceived?

The works of the flesh found in Galatians chapter 5 gives us the categories of the “deceived” areas and the failure that the world draws us into and traps us with.

Galatians 5:19-21Now the works of the flesh are EVIDENT, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The definition of DECEIVE is selfish at its foundation.  We are faced with a world that has a plan to deceive us in every way.  Only by the Truth of God’s Word and our alignment with the Holy Spirit can we steer clear of deception.

The word EVIDENT is the key word in the scripture above.

evident |ˈevədənt|

adjective

plain or obvious; clearly seen or understood : she ate the cookies with evident enjoyment.

We live in a fallen world and these items from the works of our flesh are all around us to deceive us.  They are evident! They should also serve as our self check list.  We must as the questions:

  • What parts of the “works of the flesh” am I effected by?
  • How many times?
  • How many different parts?

Being deceived is not about Salvation.  God said He would never leave us nor forsake us, But we can be lured into believing something that does not line up with the truth of God’s Word!

How do we battle deception?  Draw near to God!

James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

HEBREWS 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Our flesh will forsake us!  If God never leaves us nor forsakes us then we must look to Him for our answers!

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Summary:  We simply perish by our LACK of knowledge of God's Word which is True!  Anything else that is allowed to invade our space; "meaning our heart and mind", is false.  These things will most certainly deceive us.  Take time today and ask yourself if you are deceived in an area.  Chances are that you are and and we all need to humble ourselves and repent of our fleshly nature.

Father God, we commit ourselves to seeking you first and preparing our hearts and minds by YOUR Word.  We choose today to walk in your righteousness and by YOUR Grace we are free from the deception of the enemy in Jesus Name! Amen

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
