The Lord Is My Shield

We face an enemy that is cunning and deceiving and he has a plan to destroy us.  Christ Jesus defeated him at the cross.   We can call upon His name in our time of need and He will hear our voice.

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The Lord is our Shield in times of trouble. 

Psalm 3:3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
⁴ I cried to the Lord with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.

When I read this scripture I gained a revelation about the “Shield”.  What is a shield and how does it work? 

For a shield to work it has to be raised into a position that will block the enemies blow.  This is a parable to “Jesus” in our life.  We must raise HIM up so He can “Shield” the blow. 

Question:  Is your Shield lifted up today?

To raise Jesus up in our lives we need to call upon Him and create a relationship where He can be our shield.  If we were to hold our shield weakly or leave it on the ground or at our side, it will not help against the enemy attack.  We must have a good grip and raise it high to protect our heart.

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Our heart must trust the Lord that as our shield, He can withstand the blows of the enemy.  The Lord is as strong in our lives as we will ever need.  We must give Him place, and praise Him knowing that He is strong enough by “Faith” to deflect any and every strike of the enemy. 

Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

As we draw near to God, He will protect us as our shield in life.  We need to understand the power we have in Jesus Christ as Lord and raise Him up as our shield.  He has already won the victory against the enemy.  We need to call upon Him in faith and live the overcoming life in Jesus name. 

Father God we thank you for being our shield.  We call out to you and you hear our voice.  We raise our shield of faith and it quenches the fiery darts of the wicked one in Jesus name! Amen.

Ephesians 6:13-16 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
