IS YOUR LOVE SINCERE?

Daily Diary - April 2nd 2016

Is Your Love Sincere?

When we read God’s word it is clear that “Love” is the foundation of our walk with Him.  We have discussed many times that love endures “all” things and we are told in the word to love God, love our enemies and love our neighbor as ourselves.

The word love appears 759 times in the bible and we need to consider its value in our Christian walk as our highest priority.  As I was searching out love in the bible God revealed to me two passages that the bible has another word in front of love.  That word is “Sincere”.

2 Corinthians 6:6 We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.

Websters Dictionary

sincere |sinˈsi(ə)r|

adjective ( -cerer , -cerest )

free from pretense or deceit; proceeding from genuine feelings : they offer their sincere thanks to Paul.

Sincere is free of pretense of deceit.  If we break down the bible we will determine that the word sincere is taking love to another level.  I believe we can have love that is not sincere.

Mark 12:30-31 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’This is the first commandment.31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

As Christians we have NO greater commandments than to love God and love our neighbor.

This scripture is key because it takes the word love to another level.  It says to love the lord will all your soul, mind and strength.  This is defining love as “Sincere”.

The second part of this scripture says to love your neighbor as yourself.  This causes us to rethink how we love our neighbor.  Because loving them as ourselves makes this love be sincere at a new level.

Question:  Do you fail at having sincere love for others?  We all do at times.  Thank God for His Grace!

I hear people all the time say; “I will choose to love my enemy”, but you can tell this love is not sincere from their heart.  If this is true than they are not following God’s word because their love is not at the level of sincerity that God speaks of.

Father God we repent of falling short in the area of sincere love.  Give us your heart to love others the way you loved us by sending your son to the cross for our salvation in Jesus name. Amen

1 Peter 1:22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

Sincere Love defined:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
