IT'S WAKE UP TIME!

Daily Diary - April 5th 2016

It’s Wake Up Time!

Last week I wrote a Diary about crossing over to the other side of our problems.  The key scripture we looked at was when Jesus and His disciples crossed the lake in the midst of the storm.  This same passage brought me a new and powerful revelation that I want to share this morning.

Mark 4: 35-41 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples,“Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.

38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves,“Silence! Be still! ”Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.40 Then he asked them,“Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

Let’s look at the spiritual symbolism of this passage in a different light.

Symbolism:  First of all, the “evening” represents the darkness that is approaching.  The water represents the storm or issues of life.   The “Boat” represents a vessel.  We are the “Boat” or vessel spiritually in this analogy.

The revelation I gained is that Jesus Christ is often asleep inside of us, because we have not asked Him to become our solution.  We have the ability to "wake Him up" into our situations by simply asking!

How many times do we run around franticly worrying about the storms of life, in panic, listening to the people chasing us and never actually ask Jesus to help us.  We usually “wake” Him into our problem when we are desperate as a last resort.  The disciples cried out to Jesus “Don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”  This was their cry after they had panicked and ran around looking for other answers.

Question:  How many times do we panic and look for other answers before we ask Christ to calm the storm?

In verse 36 it says “they took Jesus into the boat.  This is the same as asking Jesus into our heart as savior.  We leave the crowds at this point and head out with a new Godly direction.  The world doesn’t want us to gain freedom in Christ so storms come.  The crowds that we leave behind represent the old life that follows us attempting to get our focus off of Jesus and this new direction.  When we allow this to happen we focus on our ability rather than using our “Source” which is Jesus

Ephesians 5:8-14 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light(for the fruit of the Spirit[a]is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.14 Therefore He says:

“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

Father, We wake you up into our lives as our source.  We desire a relationship with you at all times and proclaim your peace over our storms in life in Jesus name! Amen

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
