THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Daily Diary August 24th, 2019

THE GOOD SHEPHERD!

To labor simply means to work hard and apply effort towards a task.  As Christians we are asked to labor for the harvest of God.

Matthew 9:36-38 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were wearyand scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.37 Then He said to His disciples,“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Being scattered like sheep having no shepherd really spoke to me.  We look around and see people that are completely operating out of a worldly mindset going from work to the chores of daily routine.  They are people that are scattered without a foundation of Godly purpose or hope.  They are in need of a shepherd, deceived and scattered not knowing what will satisfy their life.

Question:  Is life fulfilling and satisfying to you?

If the answer is no, then you need Jesus Christ to become the shepherd of your life.  He brings us the gift of “Life” spiritually that is based on “Love” and giving us His great and eternal “Hope” now and forever.  It will fill our emptiness with a plan and purpose that causes us to want to labor for God.

When we become full of hope and love we desire others to obtain the same peace in God.  It becomes a hunger that will spill out to the world around us.  It is not for personal gain but rather for brotherly love of people that we begin to labor our lives in hope that others will find purpose.

1 Peter 5:2-4 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away

We are all potential shepherds in the body of Christ. His love can be on display to people around us through truth drawing people into the flock.  We are to serve and oversee this flock until the Chief Shepherd appears and blesses us with the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.

Father, we thank you for the sending us the chief shepherd in Christ.  We ask that you continue to reveal yourself to your laborers and the harvest, so they may partake in your glory now and forever. Amen!

Revelation 7:16-17 They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
