UNASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL
Unashamed Dependence
Carrie was reading her daily devotional this morning and there was a key phrase that jumped out at me. It said; “you need to attach to God with “unashamed dependence”. Our admission of needing help is so important in our walk with God.
We must conclude that God is not only “relevant” to us, but He is completely necessary at the highest level in all areas of our life.
Our pride is what has us walking around relying on our own dependence. It is actually a foolish position when you think about it. There is no way we can control all the elements and factors of life, much less the schemes and attacks of the enemy. We are simply inadequate in our own ability to manage life.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
If Jesus despised the shame of the cross we need to be unashamed of our dependence on Him. He took our shame.
Question: Are you ashamed of your dependence on God?
So many times we are leaning on our ability to fix all the issues of life and that is simply a position of pride.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Father God, we repent of our pride in ourselves and ask for your help in all things. We will depend on you as our source in life in Jesus Name! Amen
Psalm 25:10 Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,[a]for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek
Zephaniah 3:10-12 In that day you shall not be shamed for any of your deeds
In which you transgress against Me;
For then I will take away from your midst
Those who rejoice in your pride,
And you shall no longer be haughty
In My holy mountain.
12 I will leave in your midst
A meek and humble people,
And they shall trust in the name of the Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
