FORGIVE AND FORGET

Daily Diary - February 20th 2016

Forgive and Forget

As Christians we must understand that Jesus Christ came to save us from our sin. This also means we are forgiven by God when we believe in Christ as our savior.

Scripture of the Day:  Matthew 6:15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The bible tells us that all fall short of the Glory of God. We all desire to be forgiven.  When we walk in our flesh we become self-conscious and believe that everyone else is wrong and we are right.  When this happens we refuse to forgive those that have wronged us.

Question of the Day: Who do you need to forgive?

When Carrie and I spend quiet time with the Lord we slow down and seek God to find out what He has for us.  It’s during this time that we realize the mistakes we make and also whom we need to forgive.  I realized that the weight I would carry with me was because I had chosen not to forgive others.  I was the one kept in bondage by my un-forgiveness.  This is a heart issue.

After many trials in life I learned to forgive others.  I still was feeling like I had bondage and didn’t really understand the source.  That’s when God revealed to me that I never forgave myself.  We must be in a place of humility to understand our own faults and apply God’s word to it and ask for our own forgiveness.

Do you need to forgive yourself for something?

Psalms 103:12 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

The times in my life where I was walking in forgiveness of not only myself, but others I had things come up that would continually remind me of my past.  This would try to stir up un-forgiveness in my heart.  I began to recognize this emotion and simply choose to forget.  My sins are forgiven as far as the east is from the west and we have to walk in that promise of God’s word.  Not only for myself, but for others.

Matthew 22:27-40 Jesus said to him,“‘You shall love theLordyour God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[a]38 This is the first and great commandment.39 And the second is  like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

This was a commandment by God and not a suggestion.  If we are Christians and follow God’s word we must forgive and also forget.  Without it we will be unable to Love others and ourselves.

Thank you father for your Grace.  You showed us that Love is the answer and that it never fails.  Let us recognize the un-forgiveness in our hearts and allow us to forget so we can follow your word and love others in Jesus Name! Amen

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
