SILENCE BE STILL!

Daily Diary February 4th, 2019

Silence, Be Still

When the storms of life come, it threatens our situation.  We have an expectation of what we believe the answer is.  Those expectations are disrupted, so we are quick to react in a way that is opposite of God’s plan.

Mark 4: 35-41 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples,“Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.

38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves,“Silence! Be still!”Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.40 Then he asked them,“Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

There are many spiritual parables from this story in the bible.  God revealed to me that when we are in a storm we need to “Cross Over” to the other side of the problem the way the disciples did to the other side of the lake.  To do this, it takes faith.  The other main point is how we react to the storm.  Our nature is to lose our peace and begin to speak out our fear in the wrong way.  This is why Jesus said to the wind “Silence” or other interpretations “Peace” be still.  He was talking to the wind, but He was making a spiritual statement to the disciples.

Question:  Are you Silent or at Peace during the storm?

When we become silent and at peace during the storm it is a reflection of our Faith in Jesus. Jesus also says “be still”.  How many times do we run around frantically looking for all of our answers in the storm in the wrong places?  Wow!

Jesus told the storm to be silent and be still.  This is a reflection of what our position needs to be during the storms of life.  We never stop seeking God, but we must trust our Lord in faith to calm the storms in life to get us to the other side of the problem.

Father God, Thank you for showing us the way to the other side of the storm.  We trust you by faith and will remain silent and still as your hand takes us through to the other side in Jesus name! Amen

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
