IT'S TIME TO GET OUT OF THE BOAT

Daily Diary - January 20th 2016

It’s Time to Get Out of the Boat

There are times in life when we are given a choice to have faith in God or to simply stay in the boat.

Matthew 14:28-29 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

When we walk with faith toward Jesus we can do all things.  Jesus simply said “Come”.  This scripture basically is telling us to go toward Jesus and nothing is impossible.  It is a supernatural surrender and trust in God.  It is a challenge of our faith!

We all have an inner desire to get outside of our comfort zone and move towards new areas of faith, whether its in our personal walk, family or work place.  These steps are often scary and the first thought is that we are going to sink!  We have to be built up in our faith the way Peter was.  We need to focus on Jesus enough that HE becomes bigger than the threat!

I believe there is a tipping point in our Christian walk that we begin to trust God more than we trust the things of this world.  Peter did this when he walked on the water.  This scripture implies that Peter was focused on Jesus and turned loose of his own natural thoughts of sinking.

Matthew 14:30-31 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[a]he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him,“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

When the things of the world shake us such as “the wind” in this analogy, Peter lost focus.  So many times we get focused on God and things are going great and then the things of the world cause us to lose our “focus”.  It’s not always just about trust but also implies that we need to be focused on our “Source” which is Jesus.

Many times I have got out of the boat in my walk with God.  I am out of the boat right now, trusting my savior to not only help me to walk on the water, but also to be there to pick me up if I lose focus.

The more I trust God to get out of the boat the easier it becomes.  It is an ever-increasing faith that will propel us towards our fullness in him.  We have to understand that it is Him who takes us there and we simply need to get out of the boat and walk towards Jesus.

Question of the Day:  Do you trust Him?  Are you focused on Jesus in a way to not only get out of the boat, but to walk into the perfect destiny?

In my walk with God I am always reminded of how much I am seeking God and if I am placing him first above the wind and the rain of life.

Matthew 6:33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Peter was seeking God first to the point that “All” things were being added to him.  Even walking on the water!

In the world we live in today, God is asking His children to step out of the boat against the norm of this fallen world.  We are the children of God and He loves us and is there to not only guide us but to save us!

Lord, Help us to get out of the comfort zone of this world and walk in the victory you have for us in life in Jesus Name! Amen

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
