BE ON GUARD!

Daily Diary January 21st, 2019

Be On Guard

Each day we go out and face a world that is on the attack.  The enemy is looking for someone that he can devour.

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Question:  Are you open for the attack today or are you on guard against the enemy?

2 Peter 3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

This scripture tells us that we can be in a secure position with God unless we are carried away by the error of lawlessness.  This is not a salvation issue, because that is God's free gift.  This is a security issue. So therefore we need to guard ourselves against any lawlessness that we recognize.  It also implies that we should grow in “Grace”.

I ran across this great “Read” below about this topic on gotquestions.org.

To grow in grace is to mature as a Christian. We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9), and we mature and are sanctified by grace alone. We know that grace is a blessing that we don’t deserve. It is God’s grace that justifies us, sanctifies us, and eventually glorifies us in heaven. The sanctification process, becoming more like Christ, is synonymous with growing in grace.

We grow in grace by reading God’s Word and letting it “dwell in us richly” (Colossians 3:16) and by praying. Those actions by themselves don't mature us, but God uses these spiritual disciplines to help us grow. Therefore, maturing in our Christian life is not about what we do, but about what God does in us, by His grace.

To me, the most important spiritual conclusion we can make is that God is the “Source”.  We are simply extensions of His authority and "Will" upon the earth.  The downfall of people is often because they believe they have a better plan than God or that they can add something to HIS completed work.

I believe we simply are growing and displaying a perfect truth and plan that is already finished by God and we can’t make it better.  Think about it.

Father God, we want to grow in your grace to become more like You!  We seek you in prayer and in read your word to obtain knowledge that is unshakable in Jesus name, Amen!

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
