IT IS FINISHED!

Daily Diary - March 25th, 2016

It Is Finished!

It is “good” Friday and a good Friday it is, as Jesus finished the work He was sent to accomplish at the cross setting us free from our sin.

John 19:28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said,“I thirst!”29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,“It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Webster’s Dictionary

finish |ˈfini sh |

verb [ trans. ]

1 bring (a task or activity) to an end; complete : they were straining to finish the job | [with present participle ] we finished eating our meal | [ intrans. ] the musician finished to thunderous applause.

• reach the end of a race or other sporting competition, typically in a particular position :

noun

1 [usu. in sing. ] an end or final part or stage of something

As Christians we are reminded today to live in the “FINISHED” work of God.  Jesus Christ defeated the enemy at the cross and we accept this by faith through His grace to our salvation.

When we are walking in the “Revelation” of this finished work we are empowered by its meaning in our lives.  It empowers us to walk in the righteousness of the one who loved us enough to pay the price for our sin in full.  We have been bought back by a great price and are an heir in the kingdom of God!

Titus 3:6-7 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Question:  Has this great gift of God’s salvation been revealed to you?

Many times we take for granted the magnitude of this great gift.  I think we know in our heads what Jesus did at the cross, but does it move into our heart the actual impact that it has for our eternal salvation?  Eternity is a long time!

To gain the revelation of Jesus the way God intended it we have to conclude that we need a savior.  We must first accept the fact that we are in fact sinners.

Romans 3:9-11 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.

Make the conclusion today that you need a savior.  Begin to walk in the righteous gift that you have been given.

Father, Thank you for your gift of salvation.  Your finished work at the cross gave us the hope of eternal life in Jesus name. Amen

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
