PRESS ON!

Daily Diary October 4th, 2018

Press On!

When we grow in Faith we begin to want more and more of God’s plan because we have discovered that it’s better than ours.  Some questions I began to ask are “What is important in Life”?  How can I obtain everything God created me to have?

Philippians 3:12-14 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thingI do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

God is good and to have all that He has for us we must press on!  The bible tells us that we will have tribulation.

John 16:13 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus overcame the world at the cross so we fight from a position of victory today.

Question:  Are you looking forward or behind you?

When I learned how to drive I struggled backing up while using my side or rear view mirrors.  It seems like I always turned the wheel the wrong direction.  This was a major problem when I tried backing with a trailer attached.  With this added appendage it was necessary to turn the opposite direction to get the results you needed.

This is similar to life.  When we are focused behind us we have a terrible time steering going forward.  It seems like we turn the wheel in the wrong direction almost every time.  It is even more difficult to steer when we are carrying a lot of baggage with us.  This is like trying to back straight with a trailer.

When we are saved we start walking out a new plan towards our purpose.  It’s time to look forward and drive towards our goal without the “baggage” dragging behind.  God unhitched the trailer of sin in our lives that tied us down and gave us the ability to look ahead with the new life that we have obtained and press on.

We need to always look forward to be able to press on.  Even if we fall short at times our past is wrapped up in the Grace of God’s forgiveness.  The example I like to use is how can you move forward in life if you are looking in the rear view mirror.

Psalms 103:12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

If the enemy can get you to focus on your past or even your present to the point that you are unable to press on you have become paralyzed and non-effective.  Reading the Word and seeking God changes your focus and perspective toward the future!

We need to take a step back and ask ourselves if we are simply existing in life.  Has society created a path for us to simply live day by day bored and stagnant with little hope of achieving great things?  Are we stuck going around the same mountain of habits that have been set up for us to keep us in control and short of our perfect plan?

We need to realize that we are in a spiritual battle and we are fighting from a position of “Victory”.  We are fighting for the most important possible cause, the fight to obtain a guaranteed destiny that was purchased for us by the blood of Jesus!

2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

When I think about what is possible in God I am excited to see what amazing thing He has in store for me so therefore I press on!

Father, we thank you for our salvation that gives us a fresh start and a purpose.  Today we choose to press on and seek your perfect will and realize we have already won the prize in Jesus name!

1 Samual 17 So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

Hebrews 11 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
