Victory in Love

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.

The discipline it takes to win championships can teach us many lessons.  I have had teams that win and lacked a sense of humility and others that truly gained the depth of what victory can be when togetherness is based on humility and love.

When a team understands they are seeking a common goal and are able to place that goal ahead of their personal pride, they gain much more than a trophy.  They gain love and honor for each other and a deep respect for their accomplishment.

Many times I have witnessed the overwhelming love that comes over a team and community during a championship where they came together.  Love is the greatest gift and the essence of life.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

If we really read the definition of love from the bible it tells us all we need to know to achieve victory.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

Revelation:  God showed me that the reason love never fails is because it is greater than a trophy.  Love is the ultimate prize and the essence of life.  I have seen teams lose games, but in defeat they had great love and humility for each other.  When they get over their loss on the court or the ball field, it becomes understood that love was their greatest prize.  Love and Unity create the greatest possible mixture for success on the field and in life.

If we can put love at the forefront of sports or in life it never fails. It also brings forth memories and unity that can last a lifetime. Love never fails because it is worth more than a trophy.  Its value is the essence of God and it makes us victorious by itself!

Father, we thank you for the great gift of Love.  Reveal to us through our lives the value that “you” have placed on it and how much we obtain by seeking it in Jesus Name! Amen.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
